5 Best Laptops for Web Developers

Web developers and designers need a lot of gear and tools to create a great website, from advanced programming knowledge to a monitor calibrator. However, beyond all that, they need a laptop that can handle all the processes that go into creating a website. Here are five of the best laptops for web development.

Apple MacBook Pro

The newest Apple MacBook Pro is arguably the best laptop web developers can get today. macOS is a system specifically designed to run multiple programs, so users never have to worry about the MacBook lagging. The laptop’s display is also one of the best in the industry—a 2880 x 1800p screen and a 15-inch display. The default MacBook Pro is powered by an i5 Intel processor, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and 250GB flash storage. You can upgrade them, but these specifications are more than enough to run your programs.

Acer Aspire 7

Acer Aspire laptops always offer the latest hardware at an affordable price tag, and the Aspire 7 is no different. As the latest model of the line, the Aspire 7 features Intel’s 8th gen six-core processor, an upgradable 8GB DDR4 RAM, and a 1920 x 1080p resolution. It also comes with a dual-channeled RAM. This means that you can have a separate drive to run your programs and another one to store your files in. With your storage and RAM separate, you can ensure that your system’s memory is always free to simultaneously run several programs.

Microsoft Surface Book 2

If price isn’t an issue, then the Microsoft Surface Book 2 is the best Windows web development laptop you can get. It comes with a native resolution of 3000 x 2000p, high pixel density, and a dual-core processor. The Surface Book 2’s battery is also one of the best in the industry. The new power delivery system design for PCBs is created with a multi-gigahertz output range, allowing the integrated hardware components to use the battery’s power at full efficiency. This is why the Surface Book 2 can last up to 12 hours even if it runs multiple intensive programs.

Dell XPS 9570

Dell XPS machines are applauded for their bezel-less displays, high screen-to-body ratio (so they’re portable), and CPU Cores that never go below an Intel i7. The XPS 9570 has the added perk of a base clock speed of 2.2GHz and a boost clock speed of 4.1GHz, ensuring that the laptop runs smoothly even when you have multiple intensive programs running at the same time. Furthermore, it comes with a pre-installed 4GB video memory, so you can run graphic design software on it with little lag.

Lenovo Yoga 730

Lenovo laptops look deceptively simple, but their builds are always the most durable in the market. And since the Yoga 730 is a convertible laptop, durability is the first thing interested buyers need to check. Fortunately, the device comes with dual hinges, so it’ll never break even when you flip it to its maximum range. Plus, 2-in-1 laptops like the Yoga 730 are good for web development because you can convert it to tablet mode, so it’s easier to draw your web assets on the screen. This laptop comes with an i5 Intel processor, 8GB of RAM, and an AMOLED display.

When choosing your web development laptop, always look for one with a high CPU model and RAM, so your programs will run fast. You’ll also want to look at its screen’s features so that you can see how your website looks in the most accurate display possible.

Besides, there’s no best laptop for the job. It all depends on your budget, preference, and other factors.

  1. There is an alternative in the Dell lineup that everyone seems to forget in these types of articles. The Dell Precision. It was designed as a work-horse laptop for high-end graphics like AutoCAD, 3D Studio and so on. The newer versions come with the i9 processor. The Dell Precision also has 3 built-in hard drives plus a dual-layer DVD burner and 17-inch screen. Aside from the Wi-Fi card, there’s also an option for a WWAN card and a slot for a sim card to make it a mobile hotspot of its own.
As a programmer in multiple languages and a DBA, I only use Dell Precision.
    Just my 2 cents worth.
